I’m Hoss Green, a portrait, fashion and fine art photographer based in El Médano, Tenerife, working across the Canary Islands, mainland Spain, the UK and Germany.
My work moves between two registers: surrealist, colour-led editorial with a fine art sensibility, and intimate black and white portrait and boudoir work. Both come from the same instinct, building a scene with light and composition until it says more than a straight portrait would. The references I keep returning to are Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, Tim Walker, Diane Arbus and Peter Lindbergh, photographers who treated a shoot as a small piece of fiction rather than documentation.
Before photography I worked in fashion production and art direction, which still shapes how I run a set: a clear concept going in, a small crew, and enough discipline to know when to stop adjusting and just shoot.
My work has appeared on the cover of Berliner Kurier and in Berliner Zeitung, with production credits on shoots for ELLE, Tatler and Vogue. I’m a member of AFPE (Asociación de Fotógrafos Profesionales de España) and a Sony Imaging Pro Services partner.
I shoot on Leica rangefinder and Sony systems, depending on what the work calls for.
